Thinking about Turbo-Charged your Altezza?

There are few buddies asking me "should i turbo charged my engine?"

The answer is might be "Go for it" or "Forget it"

there are also a few fellow are lazy to GOOGLE and do some homework about it and teasing other people when people giving suggestion to go for 1jz.

For me i will go for 1jz for a few reasons.

First of all, it is just depends on you, your budget, and your preference.
For me why i got to 1jz because i cant find any good tuner for 3s motor in my place..

Secondly, why should i spend a lot of money just to get max about 300hp on standard internal when i can go about 450hp-500hp with 1jz standard internal.

Thirdly, Drawback to the BEAMS is the high compression. Adding a turbo will only deficit its longevity.

I am not saying BEAMS engine is not good, there are some 3s motor in US make a lot good of power.

If you would like to have an instant power without not much headache. 1jz is an option for you. Some of you will say you need to have atleast 20k to do it. It may be true or not true. It just depends how much you get the halfcut and how much you pay for the installation.

A few places can install the engine roughly around rm2.5k..

3SGE Beams build up = + turbo kit + metal gasket + management + injectors + intercooler + all the necessary piping will cost at least RM10k... usually up to 25k. Depending what type of turbo and management you use.

1JZ GTE VVTi RM9500 + RM2.5k installation charges = instant power (280hp dude!)

I guess someone will ask later "what about the weight distribution?"
this is one of the disadvantages if you install 1jz inside your altezza because you will no more get 50:50 weight distribution but back to my point up there. I cannot find any good tuners for 3s motor. if somebody know who can tune it..let me know..im also eager to put my old 3s engine inside a KE70. Although 1jz give you heavy in front parts, my car have no problem to be drifted anyways.

So my conclusion is you may choose either. there are pros and cons in both ways!

This is just my opinion and my preference.

Vectorized Altezza Pix


Its such a boring night..waiting for other friend to pick me up and eat KFC.
definitely they will not coming as when i write this post, my clock showed at about 5 am in the morning.
To fill up my time, i just vectorized my altezza image which was taken from fly.

Discussion : 3S-GE Vs 1JZ-GTE

All this while, a lots of altezza fans ask me a question " Do i need to change to 1jz or I just mod my 3s-ge beams engine"
Maybe it will take a lot of time for me to explain.

Anyway, the conclusion is if you have a lot of money, you may mod your 3s-ge engine to get a lot of power..but if you need a fast way to get 280hp, swap it to 1jz-gte :) just my 2cents.

Cool and Refreshing!!!

Finally, My water temp clocked at 72 degree celcius. Maybe you guys will ask me , what was the problem....
The problem was my thermostat spring was not in good condition anymore. So i took out the thermostat and straigt away the water temp decrease.
So I guess ezza does not having fever anymore .. wink wink!! *

Water Temp Too High!! Arghh

My water temperature is too high suddenly after came back from bukit tinggi.
This is the time to change my radiator and fans.
So, this time i change my radiator to RB25's Radiator and i also bought fiat coupe twin fan.
Since i feel my intercooler hose wasnt in good condition. I straight away send to my friend's workshop to do stainless steel intercooler piping.

I feel sad because after i all do this modification my temp is still high. Tomorrow i will check the thermostat and the water pump and i hope my head gasket is still ok.
I will update asap once i got the problem

1jz R154 Transmission Specifications.

Hi. Some of my friends complaining about this blog since it is not being updated. So this post is just to make they happy and shut up their mouth. I just would like to share about my transmission.

Below are the specification about R154 5-Speed Manual Transmission:

Gear /Ratio /Km Per 1000rpm
First /3.251 /9.6
Second /1.955 /16.0
Third /1.310 /24.0
Fourth /1.000 /31.4
Fifth /0.753 /41.7
Reverse /3.18

Final Drive 3.727 (Mechanical LSD)

This gearbox has some weak points and cannot be used with high power application. In a perfect world the ideal solution is to replace the R154 with a V16x gearbox from a Mk4 Supra. These are much stronger and more widely proven behind big-horsepower 2JZ engine combinations.

If anyone have V16x gearbox please me know ya!...

Q & A Session About Ezza

I got an email but very very busy to reply. Im sorry gan.
Here are some few question from gan

a) Whats the market rate for a 1jz TT vs 1jz vvti? (in manual)
For JZX100 I think it is around Rm7-12k based on the condition, modification and additional items. I saw one half-cut with Greddy Piping and Intercooler sold at RM11k. On the other hand, 1JZ TT is also not very cheap today, It will cost you around 4-6k
b) Can you intro me to a reputable workshop who can do a great job?
I am not sure about reputable workshop to do installation on this job. But i sent my car to Lai Fat Motor In PJ Jalan 230
c) Can the stock meter give readings from the new engine?
My Speedometer and RPM is OK. But Not The 3 Small Meter.
d) What is the estimated cost for such a project?
You Should be fine if you have RM20k in your pocket
e) Does the car drive smoothly or as a daily driver?
I am using my car as a daily driver :)

1. Are you using the JXZ100 ECU? If so, how did you get around the immobilizer system using your key with another car's ECU?
Yes. Now i am using the JZX100 ECU. For the immobilizer thingy. My car dont have any factory immobilizer.
2. How much boost were you running at 260hp? I was hoping for more than 260 at 1.14bar
I am running at 0.9 bar boost i guess. Since i cannot xceed 1.0 bar because I havent remove the Boost Cut
3. What were the issues you were having with your meters? Based on the video of the fixed meters, it still looks like the speedometer isn't fully functional. Have you figured it out yet?
the Speedometer is functional but the 3 small meter is not functional. The video you saw i think the car is not moving.

Dyno 260 HP On wheels

Hey folks,
Sorry for not updating my blog for a long time.
Today i manage to do a dyno run with my friend.
I went to GT Auto in Sunway with shanaz and installed my afc neo.
We both thinking to tune the air fuel ratio so that our performance and fuel are efficeint.
I was impressed with my friend's result. He got 237Hp on wheels with just a 1.6 Turbo Engine.
Below is the result.


Car Model: Mazda Clair
Engine: B6T



One thing that i learned for today is, B6t cannot be tuned accurately using piggyback device because the air fuel ration will go spike up and down. Its not really stable. You can see from the dyno sheet above.

Then its time for my car to go to the stage.
My boost controller its not really efficent.
Since the boost is not stable. In the future, I have to change to electrical boost controller instead of using the old fasion one. Now i am using Greddy Mechanical Boost Controller.


My result was not really satisfied me, I got only 260Hp on wheels.
Now i started to think to change to a bigger ball bearing turbo.

Conclusion:


My conclusion with shanaz is, anybody who wanted to start mod a car, please go for a standalone ecu first because if you dont have a standlone ecu like us, you;ll never go beyond expectation. hehe. So, start to save your money now! I need a standalone ecu if i change my turbo. arghh..money money...where should i get it from? IF YOU STILL USING YOUR STANDARD ECU. YOU HAVE A LIMIT THAT STOP YOU FROM MODDING YOUR CAR. damm!
